What this newsletter is

Every issue does one thing: it takes the obvious, crowded place and points you toward the quieter, better one sitting right next to it.

You know the spots. The ones your feed serves up on repeat, where the photo looks incredible and the reality is a forty-minute line and a view you’re sharing with three hundred strangers. There’s almost always a place a short drive away that gives you the same landscape, the same light, the same reason you wanted to go, with room to actually breathe it in.

That’s the swap. Same region you were already dreaming about, fewer crowds, more of the thing itself.

This isn’t a to-do list, and it’s not a ranking of the fifty places you have to see before you turn forty. It’s a steady stream of ideas, the kind worth saving for later, so that when you do plan a trip, you already know where the good version is.

Who it’s for

• One rotating note. This changes issue to issue. Sometimes it’s a peek at a trip I just put together for someone, sometimes a practical tip that’ll save you a headache, sometimes just a place or detail I can’t stop thinking about.

• One “worth packing” pick. A single thing I’d actually bring, the kind of small upgrade that makes a trip smoother.

• A warm close. A short sign-off, and an open door if you ever want to take an idea further.

Biweekly. Short and steady, never a flood.

Who’s behind it

I’m Kelsey, the person behind Gold Dust Travel, a boutique travel advisor.

What that means in practice: I don’t just write about trips, I book them. I work as a Fora Pro, which gives me access to relationships and rates that are hard to find on your own, and I plan everything from a single hotel stay to a full multi-week itinerary. It’s real planning, done by an actual person who’s paying attention to the details you’d rather not think about.
